PTK
Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society for the Two Year College. Students who join PTK have access to tools and resources that enhance the scholastic experience at SBCC, and connect them with other students who prioritize academic achievement, service, and community action. Any eligible student may apply during the third week of each semester. In order to join, one needs to have completed at least 12 units at Santa Barbara City College and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

It might make you feel surprised when you see there is a whole section about email. But as a student who has just graduated from high school and entered university, especially an international student. You need to remember that from the first day you enter university, the most important thing is to develop the habit of “checking your email at least twice a day,” because all the important information and opportunities provided by the school, whether it is internship opportunities, campus activities, etc., will appear in your email . Never underestimate the importance of it, you have no idea how much amazing recourse and significant information you would miss.
Academic Counselor
Having no idea about what courses you should take? Go meet the counselor. Having questions about your major? Go meet the counselor. Wondering about which school you should transfer in? Go meet the counselor. Worried about your future? Go meet the counselor. The Academic Counselor should and will be your best friend in your whole student career, they would help you to handle 90 percent of the problems you might have in SBCC. And if it's possible, stick with one counselor, remember her/his name
